Today, Sparrow Quantum announces the launch of Sparrow Nest – a user-friendly and fully integrated system that makes it easier than ever to generate single photons. Designed as a plug-and-play solution, Sparrow Nest sets a new standard for accessibility in advanced quantum light sources.
The system is built around Sparrow Core – a chip-based single-photon source widely recognized for delivering world-class performance in photon purity, indistinguishability, and efficiency. Sparrow Nest provides on-demand single photons in a compact format ready for standard rack installation and is designed for integration into quantum computing, secure communication, and quantum research environments.
“Sparrow Nest is exactly what the quantum ecosystem has been asking for – plug-and-play technology that makes quantum light simple and reliable enough to become a standard component in tomorrow’s quantum systems,” says
“Behind the technology lies two decades of fundamental research into how light and matter interact at the quantum level, followed by a demanding development effort by a fantastic team – a true pleasure to be part of,” adds Peter Lodahl, Founder and Chief Quantum Officer at Sparrow Quantum. “With Sparrow Nest, we’re transforming the knowledge and precision we’ve built in the lab into a user-friendly system, ready for use by researchers and industry alike.”
SparrowNest is engineered for seamless deployment into existing and next-generation high-performance computing environments. Designed for installation in astandard equipment rack, the system delivers high-quality photonic qubits for hybrid quantum-classical architectures — including quantum accelerators, testbeds, and experimental platforms. This makes it particularly relevant for national supercomputing centers looking to explore quantum capabilities without the need for custom infrastructure or internal quantum hardware development.
“Photonic qubits are a critical part of the quantum future, and Sparrow Nest makes them accessible to the broader computing ecosystem by significantly lowering the technical barriers to adoption without requiring specialized equipment or in-house quantum expertise,” adds Stokbro.
The launch of Sparrow Nest follows Sparrow Quantum’s recent Series A funding round, backed by PensionDanmark, EIFO, and Novo Seeds. The investment is accelerating production scale-up, R&D, and the rollout of new quantum products.
SparrowNest is a central part of that strategy – a concrete example of how Danish technology is helping to strengthen Europe's position in quantum photonics and establish a more resilient, sovereign quantum supply chain.
